Well, well....Look who's come to play

Even though this guy really creeps me out, I got to say I like where he's going with this "evolution" thing.
clipped from www.news.com.au

POPE Benedict has said there is substantial scientific proof of the theory of evolution.

In a talk with 400 priests, the Pope spoke of the current debate raging in some countries, particularly the US and his native Germany, between creationism and evolution.

“They are presented as alternatives that exclude each other,” the Pope said.

“This clash is an absurdity because on one hand there is much scientific proof in favour of evolution, which appears as a reality that we must see and which enriches our understanding of life and being as such.”

But he said evolution did not answer all the questions and could not exclude a role by God.

“Above all it does not answer the great philosophical question 'where does everything come from?'“

Real Americans

A newspaper that wasn't afraid to state their agenda-they knew lives depended on it.

The Friend of Man

The Friend of Man at Cornell University Library

The Friend of Man cover

Friend of Man is one of the most significant
and little studied newspapers documenting early anti-slavery and other
reform movements. The periodical is of special significance because with
the exception of religion, scholars know little about the resources of
social movements in rural areas such as Central New York, where Friend
of Man
was published.

Cornell is truly fortunate to have a close to complete set of Friend of Man , 281 issues,
published from 1836 - 1842.

Living Abroad

Interested in living abroad? Check these links out

Living Abroad

Click on the links to the left to access information about living, studying, and teaching abroad.

If you are planning to live abroad, you should also take advantage of our "Register With Embassies" program. Registering at
the U.S. Embassy or Consulate (in the country you are living in) makes your whereabouts known, in the event of an emergency.
During any kind of emergency, American consular officers will be able to reach you...if we know where you are. To read more
about this program, click here.

Also, see these links for specific situations:

Words that Ring True

Haven't heard this song for awhile. But today for some reason I gave it a listen- a real close listen. This first verse is so...well, take a listen and you put some meaning to it.

"We Are Nowhere, And It's Now"

(feat. Emmylou Harris)

If you hate the taste of wine
Why do you drink it until you’re blind?
And if you swear that there’s no truth and who cares
How come you say it like you’re right?
Why are you scared to dream of god
When it’s salvation that you want?
You see stars that clear have been dead for years

But the idea just lives on

Be grateful –Being grateful is the antidote to resentment and complacency. Resentment and complacency block your ability to see clearly. The best way to clear resentment and complacency from your mind is to be grateful for where you are right now. Be grateful for your gifts and your weaknesses. Be grateful for your success and your setbacks. If you are grateful for all things, including those that appear to go wrong, you will be able to see them for the opportunities they are.
